KONTAKT 5 FAQ
What if i get a KONTAKT Error Message: "Memory is getting low" what should i do ? Our friends at Native Instruments have provided this solution : This message indicates that there is no more memory available to load samples into. If you keep loading samples anyway, your system may become unstable or your computer may slow down and audio drop-outs may occur (due to memory swapping). This problem can affect any of native instruments sample-based applications, i.e. KONTAKT, KONTAKT PLAYER, BATTERY, AKOUSTIK PIANO, ELEKTRIK PIANO, KOMPAKT, INTAKT, and BANDSTAND. (Note that KORE SOUNDS and KORE SOUNDPACKS may use one of these products as their sound engine as well.) These applications need to load the samples or at least the beginning of the samples into physical memory. If no more physical memory is available the "memory is getting low" message will appear. The solution to this problem is to try to free up memory:

unload unused instruments
-
modify your DFD settings
-
add more RAM to your computer (but see below!)
In addition, when working with a sequencer:
-
take out other sample-based plug-ins if possible
-
try to load as many instruments as possible into one instance of KONTAKT rather than loading only one or two instruments per instance
With KONTAKT 2, KONTAKT PLAYER 2 and KONTAKT 3 you can also use the PURGE SAMPLES function in order to free memory.
